ON THE PRAIRIE
by J. Koterba, Copyright 1998
Out on the prairie thereâs a real cool cat
Prairie Cat, can you fancy that?
He doesnât wear boots of the cowboy kind
Two-tone shoes are what youâll find
Struts around on his walkinâ pads
Gave up chasinâ mice
Says that was all just a fad
And now heâs playinâ so nice
Playinâ that clarinet all the time
Under the stars feelinâ fine
Imagine the moon up in the sky
Little puffy clouds floating by
And our friend Mr. Prairie Cat
Blows his horn way up high
His notes floatinâ to the stars
Coyotes wail along
They were cominâ home from the bar
When they heard his song
Even the Prairie dogs danced all night
Cat had Îem jumpinâ
What a sight!
Daddy cat car came around
Stopped on the way to the next town
Cats in stripes, cats in polka dots
One had his tail tied in a knot!
The cats and the kittens were all gettinâ smitten
As they sat around the camp fire
No lack of the bottle that they were hittinâ
But somehow they never grew tired
Then one cat who could sing and scat
Scat like a cat, imagine that!
(Indistinguishable noises)
The cats and the kittens were all gettinâ smitten
As they sat around the camp fire
No lack of the bottle that they were hittinâ
But somehow they never grew tired
Then one cat who could sing and scat
Scat like a cat, imagine that!
